About Suantraí

I built Suantraí because I got tired of asking questions nobody seemed to be answering.

Everywhere I looked, organisations were being told what AI could do.

What I heard far less about was everything that had to be true inside the organisation for AI to actually work.

Are we actually ready for the technology we're being encouraged to buy?

Founder

I'm Denise Aitken.

I work at the intersection of technology, information, operations and organisational change.

My career hasn't followed a neat technology-consulting path. I've worked inside organisations, alongside leadership teams and with the people actually responsible for making systems work. What has been consistent is the necessity to look across the whole organisation, at the systems, information, processes and people, rather than treating a technology problem as just a technology problem.

I currently work inside a law firm, right in the middle of exactly this kind of decision-making. Right now that means picking apart a practice management system (PMS) project, rethinking how the firm's information and organisational knowledge is structured across its systems and SharePoint, while being constantly pitched the next "must-have" AI tool for law. I'm not looking at this from the outside. I spend a great deal of time understanding how these systems are actually architected, what they can do, how they connect and what needs to sit underneath them. I'm living the same conundrum I built Suantraí to help other firms work through.

We don't start with picking a tool

Why I see AI readiness differently

I don't believe the starting point for AI adoption is a product demonstration.

I believe the starting point is understanding the organisation that technology is being asked to serve.

What makes that hard isn't a lack of good intentions in the room.

The technology is moving extraordinarily quickly. Products overlap. Capabilities change. Marketing language gets ahead of reality. Different vendors describe similar things in completely different ways, and perfectly intelligent leaders are expected to make significant investment decisions in the middle of all that noise.

Meanwhile, some of the questions that matter most receive remarkably little attention.

  1. 01Is our information ready?
  2. 02Is our knowledge accessible?
  3. 03Are our processes fit for purpose?
  4. 04Do our people understand what is changing?
  5. 05Do we have the governance to use AI responsibly?
  6. 06And what problem are we actually trying to solve?

Suantraí exists to bring those questions back into the conversation.

The thinking behind Suantraí

Understanding before action.

Suantraí is the Irish word for lullaby - a soothing melody associated with calm, comfort and reassurance.

The name reflects something I value deeply: being a calm voice for organisations navigating a period of extraordinary change. Taking away some of the noise, slowing things down enough to understand what really matters, and helping people feel confident about what they do next.

AI readiness isn't about knowing everything about AI.

Nobody does.

It's about having the confidence, amongst all the hype and noise, to know enough about your own organisation to ask better questions, recognise what matters and make good decisions.

Technology will keep changing.
The ability to think clearly about it is what lasts.

Why law firms?

Suantraí Core begins with law firms.

Not because the principles of AI readiness apply only to legal organisations. They don't.

Information, knowledge, process, technology, governance, people and change matter in every organisation.

But law firms bring those dependencies into particularly sharp focus. Their work depends heavily on trusted information, professional knowledge, confidentiality, judgement and repeatable processes - precisely the foundations AI increasingly touches.

Suantraí Core has therefore been designed specifically around the realities and decisions facing small and mid-sized law firms.

The methodology is organisational.
The first application is legal.

What I want Suantraí to do.

Technology, information and organisational readiness have been recurring threads throughout my career.

But Suantraí came from something more specific: seeing how difficult it has become for ordinary organisations to make good technology decisions in the age of AI.

I don't believe leaders need more hype, more jargon or another person telling them they are falling behind.

They need clarity.

They need someone willing to ask awkward questions, investigate what is really happening, separate capability from marketing, and help them understand what needs to be true before they commit time, money and people to the next big thing.

That's the work I want Suantraí to do.
